AGE OF ANTIQUITY

These three sites range from 5000 BCE to 500 CE. The 5000 to 500 BCE Timeline, 500 to 1 BCE Timeline, and the 1 CE to 499 CE Timeline has the rise and fall of civilizations all over the world.

Each of these cultures helped form the world we live and how we think. They are the first known literate cultures. The history of all these ancient worlds is mixed with the legends and ideals we hold today. Thoughts about religion and government are based in the thoughts of beliefs of these ancient peoples.

Middle Ages

After the fall of the Rome many culture fell in on its self in western europe. While in the Middle East Islam began to rise. The Christian church split and Black Death killed tens of thousands, decimating the European population. During this period fuedalism rose in europe, which would eventually fall to the merchantile economy and the Age of Discovery.

The 500 CE to 999 CE Timeline Shows the time of the true european Dark Ages, where rose great leaders like Charlemagne and the first crusades to 'reclaim' the Holy Land.

During the 1000 to 1199, 1200s, and 1300s Western Europe comes out of its dark age. There is an age of discovery and rediscovery, and an eventual Renaissance in Florence in the 1400s.

The Renaissance

The world changed like never before. Traders spanned the globe. Cultures clashed, built on each other and some were destroyed by greed and wealth. The church lost it's hold on western culture, which it helped keep intact during the worst of the dark years. There was a true renaissance in thinking and art.
